WOOD & ENERGY
Who are they ?
Wood & Energy is an international group of companies, active in the wood processing industry since 1997.
They promote sustainable, regional forestry by transforming wood into high-quality products (solid wood, KVH®) and renewable energy (electricity, heat, pellets), using a zero-waste approach.
Operating from three locations in Europe (Belgium and Germany), the company supplies wholesalers and industries across Europe.
MISSION
Building on its long-standing commitment to circular and sustainable resource management, the Wood & Energy group partnered with ESGlogic to strengthen its ESG strategy around three key objectives: comply with the CSRD and VSME frameworks, carry out a first carbon footprint assessment, and prepare for the award of an Ecovadis medal, expected by the end of the year.
The mission began with a double materiality analysis, laying the groundwork for a structured ESG strategy. It continued with VSME-aligned reporting and a full carbon footprint assessment, leading to a climate action plan. In parallel, internal initiatives were launched around environmental and ethical policies, responsible sourcing, and workplace wellbeing. The group is now preparing for Ecovadis certification, with a medal expected by year-end.
TAKEAWAYS
Strategic alignment: double materiality successfully completed and embedded into a clear ESG strategy.
Transparent reporting: first impact report delivered in line with the VSME standard, setting a solid foundation for future disclosures.
Carbon action: full carbon footprint assessment is being conducted, followed by a tailored climate action plan.
Policy structuring: key ESG documents developed, including an environmental policy, a code of ethics, and a supplier code of conduct.
Employee wellbeing: internal survey and psychosocial risk analysis carried out to strengthen workplace quality of life.
Certification: Ecovadis application preparation, with a medal expected by year-end.
