ISCAL

Who are they ?

Iscal is a major player in sugar production in Europe, with an industrial site in Fontenoy that is among the most modern and efficient on the continent (processing capacity of 12,000 tonnes of beet per day, energy performance above the European average).

Its Dutch subsidiary Alldra, specializing in sugar-based decorations, completes its international presence.

MISSION

As a major player in the European sugar industry, Iscal is committed to uniting all its entities around a shared vision of sustainability.
To embody a more responsible and future-oriented sugar sector, the group has embarked on the B Corp certification journey.

ESGlogic supported Iscal throughout this transformation process, structuring the approach around the five B Corp pillars: Governance, Environment, Community, Workers, and Customers.

TAKEAWAYS

  • Pioneering certification: Iscal became the world’s first sugar producer to achieve B Corp certification, raising its BIA score from 65 to 83.1. A strong signal of change within the industry.

  • Responsible governance: A robust code of ethics and an effective whistleblowing channel were put in place to strengthen internal accountability.

  • Greener supply chain: Supplier data was analysed through distance-based indicators to help reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

  • Employee wellbeing: A mobility plan and company bicycles were introduced to support more sustainable and healthy commuting.

  • Safety culture: A formal Safety Day was institutionalised to anchor risk prevention in the company’s daily operations.

  • Long-term vision: An internal ESG team was created and trained to ensure the continuity and impact of the company’s sustainability journey.

SCOPE

Last August, Iscal became the world’s first B Corp-certified sugar company. This recognition goes far beyond certification: we are concretely committed to generating a positive impact on our environment, our employees, and our partners.
