CHAUSSEA

Who are they?

Chaussea is a leading French footwear retail brand, offering a wide range of affordable and trendy shoes for women, men, children, and babies.

With over 25 years of experience in the industry, the company combines fashion and accessibility, bringing the latest styles to life through more than 240 stores across France and neighboring countries.

By focusing on variety, style, and value, Chaussea has made footwear shopping more inclusive and accessible to all generations. The brand continues to grow by staying close to customer expectations, constantly renewing its collections and expanding its footprint in the European retail landscape.

MISSION

Since November 2024, the group has embarked on a structured ESG journey, starting with its preparation for CSRD compliance. The process began with a comprehensive double materiality assessment, involving strategic workshops with the executive board to identify the most material ESG topics and assess the related risks and opportunities.

In parallel, a complete carbon footprint assessment was conducted to establish a baseline and identify key levers for emissions reduction across the company’s operations.

While the regulatory landscape evolved (notably with the Omnibus directive), the project was temporarily put on hold. In the meantime, Chaussea has decided to maintain momentum by engaging in a VSME-based sustainability approach, paving the way for a progressive and operational ESG integration while awaiting updated CSRD guidelines.

TAKEAWAYS

  • Materiality first: A clear ESG roadmap starts with identifying what truly matters. Chaussea’s leadership actively contributed to this process through a collaborative materiality workshop.

  • Regulatory agility: Despite evolving frameworks (e.g. Omnibus adjustments), Chaussea remains committed to progress, adapting its approach without losing sight of long-term objectives.

  • VSME as a lever: Leveraging the VSME standard allows Chaussea to operationalize sustainability at a steady pace, reinforcing internal engagement and preparing for future reporting requirements.

SCOPE

ESG compliance can be the catalyst needed to initiate a true business transformation.
